Although sculptor George Walbye is an artist who has spent his entire
life in the Rocky Mountain West, his sculptures move beyond ordinary perceptions of
Western Art. Men and women of the historic and contemporary West are frequent
subjects for his works.
Walbye is especially noted for his series of contemporary
bowls and lidded pots which embody elements of American Indian art and ornamentation.

As Loveland's earliest bronze sculptor
artist, Walbye continues to be a strong proponent and active participant in our expanding
art community. George was among the first artists chosen by Loveland's
High Plains Arts Council to install founding works in the nationally renowned Benson Park
Sculpture Garden in Loveland, Colorado. His bronzes are in private and corporate
collections in Europe, Canada and the United States.
Artist's Statement: "As a
sculptor, I am intrigued by the beauty, strength and grace of all creatures from the human
to the animal form. Each has its own spirit and personality. Capturing the
essence of these attributes in my sculptures is always my primary and most challenging
goal".
