Born in Loveland, Colorado, in
1971, Travis Erion has been exposed to fine art his entire life. It was in high
school, however, when he realized it world turn out to be his profession, and his
passion. Although he has studied for years the academics of art, creating art is
much more emotional than academic to him.

"Painting to
me is about being alone with your thoughts and emotions. It's about finding that
connection with your subject where all the craft elements like value, temperature, edges,
and compositions disappear. When I am able to see past these restraints, all I'm
left with is my emotions, and I can move my brushes with my soul. To me, this is
what being an artist is all about. It's not that the technical skills are not
important, just that they are of secondary value when compared to the emotional element of
painting. When you look upon a sunset, or a rose, or a mother holding an infant, you
don't stop and analyze why the scene is so beautiful, only that it is, and that's enough.
It's great to have someone appreciate the technical skill of my paintings, but I
would much rather have someone laugh, cry, or get goosebumps over one of my paintings than
to tell me how technically good it is."
